Some Like a Hot

My group is formed by Duhwan and I. We are going to imitate the ending of the movie, the part in which Osgood was with Daphne in the boat. I have to act as Osgood, and Duhwan as Daphen. As a result, we have a character of the opposite gender. The decision to act as someone of the opposite gender wasn’t difficult, that was part of the work that we are suppose to do, and also it was something that the movie Some Like a Hot did too.

The experience was very funny, we already record our video. Duhwan dressed up a woman wig and a long dress, and we really enjoyed this moment because it is something that maybe will never occur again! I was Osgood, so I dressed up with a man shirt and a sailor hat. What I think is that my partner didn’t feel very comfortable with the dress that he was wearing because sometimes men are more practice in the way they choose their clothes.

I enjoyed acting as a man, that was a good experience!

I like A Screetcar Desire. I think it is a classic movie that shows New Orleans 50 year ago. I love the small details that have the movie, like the dressing room, the music, and the way it shows the city. What I especially like is that even the relationship between Stanley and Stella is very bad; finally Stella understood that she has value and she needs respect. Also, I like the character of Blanche. She is a liar, but we have to understand that she has mental problems. The actuation of this actress is excellent. In contrast, I don´t agree when Stanley beat Stella and then she forgive him without any effort.

For me the more sympathetic is Blanche. She is a beautiful woman who has a bad moment in her life. She has suffered a lot, and she had to face her husband’s death. Besides, she has good feelings even though her brother in law is very rude with her. On the other hand, I think Stanley is the least sympathetic because he is very rude and antipathetic. He is very rude with his wife, he beat her, he raped his wife’s sister, and he used to scream all time.

Movies

I think movies are art but also they are entertainment. Theater is one expression of art, and it was born in Greece with the actuation long time ago. Therefore, movies are art because they involve actuation. Mainly, actors have to create a new life with their characters, and they have to feel what a create person would feel. Moreover, Movies are a form of entertainment because the public enjoys, suffers, laughs and thinks about the movies’ story. Besides, people go to the movies to have a good and relax time. It is a good plan for all of us!

My favorite movie is Forest Gump. I like the actuation of the main actor, I like the story, I like that this movie gives a special meaning because it shows an example of life. Also, I like the scenery and I think the director did a great job with the movie.

I have different criteria to define a movie a “good” one. Thus, I look for good actuation, I look for an interesting story, and also I look for a movie that in its totality I really like.

Sally Mann

I think Mann has her own style. She really enjoys taking photos to everything she find. Moreover, I like her children’s pictures. I think they are artistic. I really like the landscape in which these pictures had been taken, and the special effects that some of them have. Besides, I think that that photos express nature, childhood, life, innocence and humanity.

I think that Mann has her style as I already said. She loves taking pictures with different things although I think she does it also because she wants to have a controversy around her. She knows that that kind of things sell!

I don´t think Mann should be censored with the pictures that she has taken. There are not arguments for it. Meanwhile, I think that some kind of photos can affect different groups of people. Maybe because of religion, thoughts, a special sensibilities, etc. a group of people can feel that some pictures are undesirables. I consider that the bounders that artists have depend on the idiosyncratic of the specific public.

Presentations

The presentations were very good and with a lot of work in them. The slides were great in all the groups, and the songs were pretty interesting. I think the most difficult part for my group was the beginning; we didn´t know how to do our imitation, but then we agreed our three topics (prayer, freedom and dreams) and the work turned easiest.

The easiest part for us was the choice of the song, we listened some Madonna’s songs and we chose Like a Prayer because we liked the song, the lyrics and the rhythm.

What I like the most of the presentations were all the historical events and these two members who sang their imitation, I think that was great and funny! Congratulations for them.
Music is indispensable in our lives. Singers transmit in it a lot of feelings that perhaps all of us have felt in a specific moment, that´s why I agree with the sentence “music is a universal language”. In addition, music is part of people’s diversion; with music you can have a good moment dancing, listening to good songs, take relax with soft music… Music is appropriate for each situation… music transmits love, sadness, good feelings…

Finally, I’ll ask Madonna if she thinks is necessary for our society to have artists like her giving happiness to the people that enjoy the music!

Madonna

I think Madonna, Dylan and Waters are very different in their styles but each one is a good artist. Madonna has songs with controversial topics that in the 80’s were very criticized because in that time people didn’t talk about sex and money in an open way.

While Madonna has lyrics about common problems but unpublicized in the past, Dylan sang romantic songs that are pretty sad but with hope; while Madonna have pretended to be a known singer, a sex icon in the whole world, Dylan used to be a black artist that lived in a problematic history process in the States that sang love songs that expresses honest feelings.

They are very different as I already said, but it doesn’t mean that one of them isn’t a serious singer. They are good artists, examples to others that want to be famous, they’re singers that are going to be remembered always in the future.

Page 1 - Music

The song that I like the most is “Blowin’ in the Wind” of Bob Dylan. I hadn’t hearted it before but I think it has a very good lyric, a lyric that has good sense of life. When you listen to the song, you begin to think about the deeply meaning of the life and that is interesting.

First, I have to say that this song doesn’t talk about love, the most common topic in music. The sense of the song is maybe how long we have to wait and to learn of life to be thoughtful people. When I think on that, I think in how long the road of life is and how deep it is! We are learning in each experience to be a good person every day and this song has to be with this hard topic.

Besides, I like the voice of the singer, Bob Dylan. He sang it with a lot of feeling and is very important to feel the real meaning of the song, because it is very pretty and with a lot of common sense.

By the way I like the answer of the own song: all the answers are “blowin’ in the wind”, it make you think that all is experiences of life, of your own way.
